Extensa Series

Date Created:

Article Number:

This article applies to the following models:

Extensa 600

Extensa 650

Extensa 660

When creating a Save-to-Disk file, the message "Error in Reading BPB" appears.

If you do not have a "Save to DISK" file and run PHDISK to CREATE one, it is possible to get an error message "Error in reading BPB," which abort the creation process.

The error BPB occurs when you run PHDISK on a unit that has been converted to FAT32.  The Extensa 600, 650, and 660 series shipped with Microsoft Windows 95 version A, which does not offer a 32bit version of the PHdisk utility, nor is support provided for FAT32 on these models.  If you run FAT32, you will lose the save to disk feature.  If you need the save to disk feature, it is recommended to convert the drive to FAT16 and run the PHDisk utility that shipped with your unit.
