TravelMate 650

How do I upgrade memory in the TravelMate 650 series notebook?

Memory is expandable up to a maximum of 1024 MB, employing 256 / 512MB industry-standard soDIMMs (Small Outline Dual Inline Memory Modules).
The computer supports DDR (Double Data Rate) RAM.

Note: Be sure that you have run ScanDisk and Defrag before installing additional memory.

        * Shipping configuration is 128MB or 256MB in Slot 1.

What you will need to upgrade your memory:

  • Small Phillips-head screwdriver
  • Memory upgrade module

Installing Memory

The computer has one memory slot that is user-upgradeable from the bottom of the computer. To install memory, follow these steps:

  1. Turn off the computer, unplug the AC adapter (if connected) and remove the battery
  2. Turn the computer over to access its base.
  3. Remove the screws from the memory door (a);
    then lift up and remove the memory door (b).

  1. Insert the memory module diagonally into the slot (a), then gently press down (b) until it clicks into place.

  1. Replace the memory door and secure it with the screws.
  2. Reinstall the battery pack.
  3. Reconnect the AC adapter.
  4. Turn on the computer.

The computer automatically detects and reconfigures the total memory size.
