TravelMate C300

How do I upgrade memory in the TravelMate C300 series notebook?

Memory is expandable up to a maximum of 2GB, employing 256/512MB or 1GB Industry-standard DDR333 soDIMMs (Small Outline Dual Inline Memory Modules).

Note: Be sure that you have run ScanDisk and Defrag before installing additional memory.

What you will need to upgrade your memory:

  • Small Phillips-head screwdriver
  • Memory upgrade module

Installing Memory

There are two memory slots on your computer, one of which is occupied by standard memory. You can upgrade memory by installing a memory module into the other available slot.

Note: Be sure that you have run ScanDisk and Defrag before installing additional memory.

To install memory, follow these steps:

  1. Turn off the computer
  2. Unplug the AC adapter (if connected)
  3. Remove the battery pack
  4. Turn the computer over to access its base
  5. Remove the screw(s) from the memory door (a)
  6. Lift up and remove the memory door (b)

  1. Insert the memory module diagonally into the slot, then gently press down until it clicks into place.

  1. Replace the memory door and secure it with the screw(s)
  2. Reinstall the battery pack
  3. Reconnect the AC adapter
  4. Turn on the computer.

The computer automatically detects and reconfigures the total memory size.
